Pressure Relief Analysis

Pressure Relief Analysis

Documentation of relief system design and design basis is required by OSHA 29CFR 1910.119(d).

Inglenook performs pressure relief analyses of both existing and new facilities. Additionally, we help clients from the major oil and gas production, refining, petrochemical and chemical operating sectors develop internal standards and guidelines related to overpressure protection and effluent handling.

Prior to the analysis, Inglenook develops project guidelines which provide additional detail for project execution. These guidelines summarize and highlight the specific procedures and assumptions to be used in the relief system design verification process.

Our analysis involves identification of scenarios that could potentially result in overpressure of a particular system. We use an equipment-based approach, utilizing a thorough review of P&ID’s, PFD’s, H&MB’s, and equipment data, and most importantly, our knowledge and understanding of the process.

Inglenook applies sound engineering judgment and performs process simulation to quantify relief requirements for different types of overpressure scenarios.  Our deliverables include comprehensive documentation of the relief system design and all the supporting calculation, simulation, process and equipment data.
