Inglenook \ɪŋ gəl nʊk\

  1. A small, often recessed, section of a larger room having a large, open fireplace;
  2. A bench, especially either of two facing benches, placed in a nook or corner beside a fireplace.

When my colleagues and I started the company and needed a name, we thought about how we wanted a name that reflects our desire to be a complementary capability that adds value and extends usefulness to an existing environment without causing turbulence or intrusion. My interests in architectural design provided the inspiration for our name, as this concept is exactly how a well-designed nook works. We also wanted a name that reflects our desire to be a useful technical resource, and the common use of an inglenook as a library led us to choosing the name…add the fact that Inglenook Engineering has a nice ring to it and the rest is history.
